Q. Can Ovation be used with bariatric individuals?
Yes, Ovation can support a person who weighs up to 700 pounds.
Q. What is the heaviest individual that can use Ovation?
The heaviest person that can use Ovation is 700 lbs.
Q. How much body-weight support can Ovation provide a patient?
Ovation has two unloading modes. In static body-weight support, the position of the patient is fixed so they are restricted from moving downwards. Ovation can provide up to 700 lbs. of static support. In dynamic body-weight support, the patient can move freely up and down while the level of support stays constant. Ovation provides between 25-350 lbs. of dynamic support. A person 700 lbs can be made to feel up to 350 lbs lighter!
Q. What is the difference between Ovation and other treadmills with offloading capabilities?
Ovation is a high-tech system that uses dynamic body-weight support and fall protection. It was designed from the ground up to address the needs of the widest range of patients, even the very obese up to 700 lbs. The robotic unloading system provides precise body-weight support by a specific number of pounds or percentage of weight while important training data is recorded in a database to track progress and recovery. The dynamic body-weight support provides a natural feeling experience while walking on the treadmill. In addition, if the treadmill is not running, the individual may practice squats or sit-to-stand with the bench or a chair. Other treadmill systems may simply have a fall protection device, which doesn’t allow these dynamic vertical activities or capture training information from the session.
Q. Is Ovation registered with the FDA?
Yes, Ovation is listed with the FDA under Aretech’s registration number (3007797030).
Q. Can a therapy session on Ovation be billed to healthcare providers and Medicare?
Yes, gait training on Ovation is normally billed using standard gait training codes.
Q. How fast can patients walk in Ovation?
The maximum treadmill speed is 5 mph.
Q. What data does Ovation record from each training session?
The Ovation software contains a SQL database that is password encrypted. For each session, the software records intervals, distance walked, training minutes, falls prevented, incline, levels of body-weight support, calories and heart rate.
Q. What type of treadmill comes with Ovation?
Ovation uses a Woodway, the industry leader in treadmills. The treadmill has a 27” wide, 68” long slat-belt surface that provides the highest level of comfort and durability of any treadmill.
Q. What is the elevation range of the treadmill on Ovation?
The treadmill inclination goes up to 7% in increments of 1%. This is helpful because patients can practice walking uphill, or if the belt speed is reversed and the patient faces the back of the treadmill, they can practice walking downhill.
Q. Does Ovation come with seating?
Ovation includes a patient resting bench, as obese patients may require frequent breaks. Therapist seating with footplates is an optional accessory for those therapists who would like to manually assist the patient.
Q. Does Ovation come with a ramp, step or patient lift for the treadmill?
Ovation comes standard with a step. A ramp or patient lift is optional to assist patient onto and off the deck.
